Contest Information

Learn about agriculture in North Carolina by having your class participate in the Haywood County Fair Youth Poster Contest! Each classroom participating will have students create a poster celebrating and promoting a North Carolina agriculture commodity.

The top three posters from each classroom will be displayed during the Haywood County Fair. Grade-level winners from the fair (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and honorable mention) will have their posters featured in the 2023 Haywood County Agriculture Awareness Calendar (sales will benefit future agriculture awareness programs for Haywood County youth).

  • 3rd-grade theme: North Carolina Christmas Trees
  • 4th-grade theme: North Carolina Sweetpotatoes
  • 5th-grade theme: North Carolina Strawberries

Ag Mags for each commodity will be available digitally at no cost, on loan from the Extension Office, or can be purchased from the N.C. Farm Bureau website ($5 for a 25-count classroom pack). Contact srdixon@ncsu.edu or 456-3575 for more details about loaning out Ag Mags.
