Career Pathways Lab

Welcome! The Career Pathways Lab focuses on teaching, research, outreach, and program evaluation for helping people prepare for and advance in food, agricultural, natural resources, and human sciences careers. This encompasses formal undergraduate and graduate programs in Extension Education, research, program development, evaluation, and professional development for Extension professionals.         The Career Pathways Lab seeks to: (a) Provide internship experience that benefits interns, local County Extension Centers, and ultimately, those served by Extension; (b) Provide exceptional professional development for Extension professionals and others; and (c) Conduct research and program evaluation regarding career pathway programs to strengthen programs and outcomes. My current research foci explores the efficacy of career pathway programs, and my research program has demonstrated that involving under-served undergraduates in agricultural research elevates their opinions of agricultural careers. The Career Pathways Lab seeks to improve internships, job shadowing, and other programs that build career-readiness skills. All of these opportunities and programs are cultivated to develop future agriculturalists, Extension educators, and researchers.

“One of the forgotten links in all these food systems, connections between agriculture, nutrition, and health, is that you need knowledge. You need to do some research, and then you need to innovate." - Ruben Echeverria
